When silence falls on the earth because the great cold has arrived with its arctic breath, stop and contemplate what is around you.
Winter is magical!
Now the white branches of the trees are glittering and a ray of sunlight is lighting some small prints.
A squirrel has scampered on the snow during the night!
The sun is shining on the valley and the roofs of the houses covered with snow are gleaming: it is a wonderful view!
The winter is not only a magical sight for the eyes but it is also extraordinary music to everyone’s ears.
You can feel the absolute silence or the avalanche rumble, the rustle of falling snow or the howl of the storm blowing from the mountains
Wintertime has some smells too.
You can smell wood or the fox’s stink into the forest and the smell of cold everywhere!
What is the smell of cold like?
It’s a light scent, sometimes delicate, that enters your nose like a pin.
Winter is poetry too.
Rainer Maria Rilke says:
“The very tall firs slightly are breathing
They encased in snow’s blanket…”
